Final Contest For Youth Cougars Ends In Loss

The Varsity Youth Cougars football team traveled to Sonora this past Saturday for the second round of playoffs. Facing off against an undefeated Sonora Wildcats team in hostile territory, the Cougars were hoping to avenge a loss to the Wildcats early in the season. Unfortunately, there was no more playoff magic for the young Cougars as turnovers haunted them throughout the game.

Sonora’s defense was excellent as they shut out the Cougars 36-0. Even though it was a heartbreaking loss and tough way to end the season, the young gridders never gave up. Leading the squad in tackles were Oscar Lopez, Leo Marrufo, and Damian Morales followed by Dylan Ball, Houstan Sizuela and Ethan Butler who also added an interception to his defensive effort.

Congratulations go out to all three squads this year for making it to playoffs as the program looks to the offseason to rebuild and come back stronger than ever.
