Escalon Wrestling Club Travels To St. Mary’s

Members of the Escalon Wrestling Club wrestled on Sunday, Jan. 13 at St. Mary’s High School.

“We had 24 wrestlers at the event,” noted head coach Derek Scott. “We had 19 medalists and five champions.”

In the 5/6 year-old division wrestling hard and taking third place were Ethan Casillas, Freddy Velasco, and Archer Sanders. Finishing in second place was Adam Cordeiro.

Earning the title of champion was Aaron Quiroz.

“He’s looking great representing the club well each time out,” said Scott.

In the 9/10 year-old division, third place finishers were Luke Conradi, Ethan Butler, Cole McDowell, and Ben Gonzalez. In second place were Mikey Bell, Beau Morgan, and Athena Quiroz.

Champions were Conner Mc Dowell, Daulton Shinn, and Malachi Coble.

In the 11/12 and 13/15 year-old divisions, continuing to improve as they get ready for El Portal and EHS wrestling were, taking third place, Frankie Rodriguez, Sam Hinojosa; with Christian Rowe taking home second place honors.

“He’s looking good as he rounds back into shape after recovering from an injury,” Scott said.

JW Mills brought home a championship for the EWC, with Scott noting that the young wrestler continues to work hard and show great improvement.

Coach Scott also wanted to thank all the coaches, parents and team assistant Briane Cerasi for their hard work and patience throughout the long season.
