The Escalon Wrestling Club had 15 wrestlers make the trip to the mountains in the pouring rain on Sunday, Dec. 22 for the Mountain Bash at Summerville High School. Out of the 15 who wrestled there, 10 medaled and four brought home gold.

Fighting hard continuing to improve were Houston Sizuela, Conner McDowell, and in his best performance of the year, Preston Sizuela. Looking tough in his return to action taking second place was Freddy Velasco. Also looking good in their first action of the year were brothers Jacob and Matthew Lee both taking home runner-up honors. EWC brought home four titles. Looking tough in taking home gold was hard charging Jimmy McDowell. Also taking gold was the gritty hard working Daulton Shinn. Looking good in the most exciting match of the tournament was former three-time state placer Luca Cerasi. Looking to return to form bringing home a dominant gold was Frankie Rodriguez.

The team was coached by Jonathan Costa, Clinton Sizuela and former three-time NCAA Div. 1 Qualifier Ben Lee, with both Brianne Cerasi and Derek Scott on hand to assist with the day’s events.

Coming up next is the annual EWC tournament at Escalon High School on Sunday, Jan. 5.
