Sending 15 wrestlers to St. Mary’s in Stockton recently, the Escalon Wrestling Club had a successful day on Jan. 12.

Competing hard and taking third in his best tournament so far was Milo Simoes following his father – Mikey, who wrestled varsity for coach Derek Scott about a decade ago for EHS. Also looking good taking third were Johnny Van Dyke and Cole McDowell.

“I thought Johnny had the best match I saw all day,” said Scott. “Looking great bringing home runner-up honors were Kaleb Butler, Jimmy McDowell, Daulton Shinn, Conner McDowell. These are four boys who just go hard the whole time making good things happen for them.”

Bringing home golds for EWC were Ethan Butler and Frankie Rodriguez.

“Butler just goes hard and overwhelmed everyone with his non-stop in your face style,” Scott noted. “Frankie looks ready for the start of his El Portal season as he prepares to enter high school next year. Frankie has really improved these last two years.”
