Playing on the road didn't bother Escalon's Cal Mex Baseball team on Sunday, the Golden State Lumber squad coming away with a 12-2 win over the host Stockton Predators.

"It was a good day," said coach Joe Gasper.

The Golden State Lumber team features several former Escalon High baseball players and many of them contributed to the victory. Wes Evans got the win on the mound, pitching seven strong innings. He allowed two runs on six hits while striking out three.

Leading hitters were Matt Anderson, 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored; Andy Gasper, 3-for-5 with two doubles and three runs scored; Steve Szabo, 4-for-5 with two RBIs.

Also, Jeff Quarle went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored; Brian Albers, 2-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI; and Travis Bartelink, 1-for-3 with a two-run homer.

The next two games for the team will be played at home, hosting Club Mexico at the Escalon High School baseball field at 1:15 p.m. on Sunday, June 20 and then hosting the Astros in a 1:15 p.m. contest on June 27.
