Escalon’s varsity Lady Cougar golfers are currently 3-4 in league which puts them in fourth place behind Bret Harte. The top three teams go to playoffs and Escalon is looking to break into that top three. They recently lost to Argonaut, the first place team, currently undefeated in league.

“Lucy Allbaugh continues to be one of the top golfers in the league but she only had the third best score that day with a 45,” said head coach Martin Louro. “Our next best score was Genevieve Casazza’s 63. We then got revenge on Sonora by beating them by one stroke at home 161 to 162. We were anchored by Lucy’s 33. But all the girls stayed in the 40s with Jordin Lovett shooting 42, Genevieve Casazza and Rose Percy 43, Gracie Bracco 46 and Cortney Ball with a 49.”

Th team then went back to Teleli to take on Summerville and came away with a 214-258 victory.

“Lucy shot a solid 40, followed by freshman Lizzie Allan’s 52, and Genevieve’s 57.”

Their last match for the week was at Jack Tone Golf course against Ripon and Escalon took the loss, 154-191. Allbaugh posted a 35 followed by Percy with 50, Casazza 51 and another freshman Taylor Bruns 55.

This week was to be a busy one, with four matches, including a couple against third place Bret Harte.

“After this week we only have one home match, against Argonaut, and then the league tournament on Monday, Oct. 17,” Louro said. “Overall the girls are continuing to work on their game and are doing their best.”
