Members of the El Portal Bowling League gathered for their first day of competition in the new season on Thursday, Sept. 8. So far, nine teams are taking part, and there is still room for more. Those interested can contact McHenry Bowl in Modesto for more information about the Thursday morning league.

This year’s Science Camp will benefit from a gift of $2500 from the El Portal Bowling League, which is a fundraising league established about 1972 just after the opening of El Portal Middle School. It is a ladies league, bowling on Thursday mornings at 10 a.m.

This year they welcomed a new bowler Sue Olivan who will bowl with MarySue Young, the president of the league this year. Other officials elected are RoseAnn Dugo, vice president, and Mary Panero, secretary/treasurer. The season is from September to May and new members are welcome.

Tracy Marshall of the Hot Shots bowled a high scratch game of 215, helping her team total 1460 pins.
