The Lady Cyclones Black team - including players from Escalon and Riverbank - are the 12U (IFA) West Coast World Series Champions. The World Series was held the weekend of July 22 through 24 at Arnaiz Field in Stockton and the Lady Cyclones played eight games in two days. The girls went 7-1 on the weekend.

Escalon players on the team are Marisol Diaz-Morales and Kendelle Messersmith.

Saturday, July 23 consisted of four games and the girls went home 4-0 that evening. The first game was at 8 a.m. and the final game of the day ended at 9:45 p.m.

Sunday was another long day. The first game of the day was against the California Crushers and the game went to a double International tiebreaker with the Lady Cyclones coming away with a 10-5 win but it also cost them a pitcher who ended up with a badly sprained finger during a play at the dish.

The second game of the day saw the girls battle again. They were behind going into the final inning but the bats came alive and they took the win, 6-5.

The only loss of the weekend came in the seventh game of the weekend. Immediately following the loss, the girls had to re-group and play the Roseville Rampage for the WWS title. Adding to the excitement, the girls got to play the championship game under the lights with an announcer and a stadium full of pumped up fans. The girls played tough and going into in the final inning, the score was tied at 4-4, forcing the championship game to go into an international tiebreaker. That is when the Lady Cyclones showed that their motto - Never Quit - was taken to heart. They scored three runs and the Lady Cyclones' defense was able to hold Roseville to one run for a final score of 7-5.

The girls endured two 14-hour days of softball, numerous injuries and sheer exhaustion with the sweet reward of earning the title of West Coast World Series 12U champions.

The Lady Cyclones Black team is based in Ripon and consists of girls from Ripon, Escalon, Riverbank, Atwater and Merced. The girls are getting a short break and then the Fall Ball season will begin. The Lady Cyclones continue to grow - going into the Fall Ball season with five teams spanning 10U, 12U and 14U age brackets.
