The Escalon track and field team battled the Ripon Indians on Wednesday, March 27 in Trans-Valley League action.

The boys team fought hard, going toe to toe with the Indians but lost by the slimmest of margins, 68-67. An exciting 4x100m race with both teams posting the exact times, resulted in a final judge’s decision giving Ripon the win in that event.

“Initially it was too close to call,” reported head coach Carrie Nash. “We had to spend some time looking at the finish line camera to make the final decision.”

The boys had a strong showing in the 1600m, 4x400m relay, shot put and discus, shutting Ripon out from earning any points in those events.

The girls team took a loss with the final score Ripon 104 and Escalon 20.
