An estimated 1,700 pounds of catfish have been stocked and are ready to be caught on Saturday, June 1 at Oak Grove Regional Park.
That’s the site for the San Joaquin County Parks Catfish Derby, open to all ages. There will be both youth and adult competitions. Kids fish free; those 16 and over must have a valid California fishing license and pay a $5 cash fishing fee for the competition. Gates will open at 6:15 a.m. at Oak Grove, 4520 W. Eight Mile Road, Stockton, and the last weigh-in will be at 12:30 p.m.
There is also a $6 cash vehicle entry fee.
Anglers have a five fish limit for the competition, with the event supported by Delta Fly Fishers.
