The Month Of The Taurus
Sarah Says 5-25-22
Sarah Lawson

So many things have happened this month and many more to come during the bright Taurus season.

I joined the global service organization the Soroptimists, continued planning my belated birthday trip to Nashville for June, and celebrated my 21st birthday.

I joined the Soroptimist after a good friend of mine kept telling me all the amazing things the group stood for. Then I would see her continue to excel in the community and I began to grow an interest. I then over the past seven months would look into it here and there and finally got inaugurated on May 10. So far, watching and learning from the amazing group of ladies have been highlights in my life. I am so proud of myself to have not only joined, but pushed myself to get into the community more. I am very excited to see the places I can go, and the things I can accomplish with the aid of this group.

Since my birthday is in the midst of all the craziness that comes with school graduations, chocolate festival, and more, I decided to push my birthday trip into the middle of June. I have always wanted to go to Nashville since it is a very popular spot for just turned 21-year-olds to go and also is rich with history and country music. So I booked my trip and treated myself with my first ever first class ticket experience there and back. My oldest brother and his girlfriend are joining me on the trip and I could not be any more excited. I have not had the chance to travel really anywhere besides Vegas to visit my mom, so this is also going to be a new life experience for me. I really want to visit the Country Music Hall Of Fame, and the Grand Ole Opry, along with other famous spots here and there. But the one main thing that I am excited for the most is this tour that I booked where you go around on a golf cart tour for a couple hours and get to see all the best historical sights and pubs where most regular cars cannot go. So I am definitely counting down the days until that trip begins.

May 20, the day that marks when I was born way back in 2001, meant this year was my 21st birthday. I celebrated this past Friday beginning my day with admiring the happy birthday sign and balloons that my fellow Soroptimist sisters placed without being seen. I have never had someone place anything in my yard before for me so that was really cool to come outside to. I then go to work and get to my desk and see it covered in balloons, confetti, a banner, some gifts, and a card that the whole office signed. I will always be thankful for the people I work alongside, I constantly learn from them, grow as a person with them, and they are always there to care for me. This is the first job that I not only adore highly, but also have a second family every time I walk through the door.

Later on I got to have my hair and makeup done and go meet family and friends for dinner, I was very excited to see some old college friends that I had not seen in years and also introduce my boyfriend’s family to my family members that hadn’t met them yet. Usually birthdays are iffy for me due to past experiences but the more that the day went on, the more I had a feeling that this year was going to be different.

Cheers to 21, cheers to another year on the planet, and many more to come.
