Dear Editor,

I just wanted to take a few minutes to thank those who participated in Saturday’s “Love Escalon” program. Members of Saron Lutheran Church walked several neighborhoods, requesting food donations for our local C.A.R.E. food bank. Community members were very generous in giving and we were treated well, in spite of interrupting peoples’ Saturday morning. Other volunteers had painting projects at Dent and Van Allen schools, while others worked cleaning up the C.A.R.E. Center, and others had, yet, other projects. Thanks to the organizers who helped the almost 50-strong identify projects and provided some tools. A special thanks to D’Boni’s Pizza for providing, free of charge, each member who participated an individual pizza and cold drink! That was above and beyond the call of duty and tasted delicious.
