Dear Editor,
Although it is a touch belated, the Escalon High School Golf Program would once again like to thank the Hagan family, and the staff of the Escalon Golf Course for allowing the Escalon High School Golf Program to use its facilities for practices and matches. We are well aware of the problems and inconveniences that come with hosting high schools on a golf course, and we consider ourselves very fortunate that those who work at the Escalon Golf Course go out of their way to make us feel welcome.
We would like to share what a privilege it is to have such a wonderful facility to practice on and improve our golf games. Speaking with coaches from opposing high schools, it becomes more and more evident just how lucky we are. Escalon Golf Course offers us use of the driving range, access to the course, and an atmosphere that is friendly and cordial. It is the same caring attitude that makes Escalon such a wonderful place to live. In fact, throughout the recent season, we were constantly asked by community members, who are regulars at the course, for updates about how our season was going. Rather than being looked at as a “nuisance”, our team became a source of pride for those who played there and worked there. We believe, unequivocally, that the success of our Boy’s Golf Team this year, which culminated in a Third Place finish at the Section Championships, could not have been accomplished without the support of the Escalon Golf Course and the members of our community.
We would like to commend the outstanding job that the staff of the Escalon Golf Course staff in representing the course and the community. Everyone who works at the Escalon Golf Course are individuals who are always ready and willing to aid us in any capacity. This caring attitude does nothing but enhance a feeling of good will for all who play there.
We would also like to thank the Escalon Golf Course for their helping to promote junior golf. Young people, and especially those of Escalon High School, have always been a primary consideration of the course. Those involved with the Escalon Golf Course realize that teaching our young people the game of golf, and teaching them correctly, ensures the future of the sport. The addition of junior programs such as First Tee, and the addition of special prices for juniors to play the course, is a testament of the interest Escalon Golf Course has in our younger golfers.
We would also like to thank several individuals and all that they do to make our golf programs at Escalon High School some of the best in the area. We cannot give enough thanks to the many people who have generously donated equipment, balls and the “little extras” for our program to help make it special for our athletes. A special “thank you” goes out to Jerry Emery who donated countless hours in helping our JV squad improve dramatically. Once again, for all you do for Escalon High School Golf, thank you.
Once again, our program would like to thank everyone who has had a hand in promoting high school golf and for showing the community spirit that is Escalon.
