Wanda Smith, 72, of Escalon died Tuesday, April 1 in Oakdale.

She was born in Amarillo, Texas on May 6, 1935.

Mrs. Smith was a drapery seamstress. She volunteered for Escalon CARE Center with the Brown Bag and Commodity Programs.

She was a member of Escalon First Baptist Church where she enjoyed serving on the Hospitality Committee and serving as a social coordinator for Helping Hands Ladies Class.

Survivors include her son, Doyle (Melodie) Smith of San Antonio, Texas; daughter Patti Stanley of Escalon; granddaughter Leticia Smith of San Antonio, Texas; brothers, Ray Smith of Ceres and Bill Smith of Vacaville; numerous nieces and nephews of California, Washington, Missouri and Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jess Smith, mother Clara Smith, father Tom Smith, sister Louise Marshall and brother Lyle Smith.

She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

A memorial service was held April 7 at First Baptist Church, Escalon.
