Walter Raymond "Ray" Byrd, 79, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 25 in Grants Pass, Oregon.
He was born on Nov. 17, 1931 to WR and Marjorie Byrd in Clyde, Kansas. He was an alumnus of Escalon High School, Class of 1950. He served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Air Force from 1950 to 1953. Before retirement, he was a truck driver, driving for California Tank Lines out of Stockton for over 30 years.
Survivors include his second wife, Lois I. Byrd of Grants Pass, Oregon; four children, Raymond Michael Byrd, Kathleen W. Byrd, Richard B. Byrd and Kelly L. Byrd; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 8 at 11 a.m. at Bethel Assembly of God Church, 105 East G St., Oakdale, CA.
