VERNON RAY BELGER, JR.

Vernon Ray Belger, Jr. passed away peacefully on April 15, 2019 in Stockton, CA at the age of 77. Vernon was born on April 2, 1942 in southern California to Vernon S. and Lillian E. Belger. Together the family moved to Escalon in 1958.
After graduating high school, Vernon enlisted in the US Army and served in Vietnam from 1967 until 1969. After being discharged, Vernon worked in the construction industry doing tile setting for nearly 50 years. Vernon loved being in the outdoors, exploring mountains and lakes. He was an avid fisherman, loved to hunt and go camping. Above all else, Vernon was a family man. He loved going to family get togethers and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Vernon leaves behind his former wife of 17 years and mother of his children, Barbara Smith-Rose, his sons, Brian Belger (Tana) and Vernon Belger, III, his grandchildren, Brandon, Brianna, Bryce, Constance, Candyce and Legend Belger, his sister, Roxanna Gonzales-Shatz, his niece, Roxanna “Punkie” Gonzales and his nephew, Richie Gonzales.
Deegan Funeral Chapel is honored to serve the Belger family. A graveside service is scheduled for Friday, May 3rd at 1 p.m. at Burwood Cemetery in Escalon. Donations in Vernon’s memory may be made to American Legion Post 263 in Escalon, Escalon Ambulance or Disabled Veterans.
