Velma Johnson, 96, died on Friday, June 11.
Born in Graton, CA, she spent a lifetime in Modesto in business with her husband Edward as owners of the Diamond J Empire. She was a lifetime member of Bethel Church of Modesto and was Sunday School Director for 20 years. She was a tireless worker in the home, in church and the many businesses she and her husband owned. She served on the board at Bethel and was also an honorary board member of Bethany University.
Survivors include her brother Kenny Green; grandchildren, Shannon Johnson-Koll, Justin Johnson, Chelsea, Edward, Gianna, and Monica Izzo; and great-grandchildren Gavin, Taylor, Meghan, Logan Johnson and Trent Allgood.
She was preceded in death by her husband Edward, son Edward Earl, daughter Cynthia May and her sister Viola.
Services were Tuesday, June 15 at Bethel Church.
Arrangements were by Franklin & Downs Colonial Chapel.
