T.J. "Bud" Lewis, 86, passed away peacefully at his home in Escalon on Jan. 3, 2009.

Born in Exeter, California on Dec. 3, 1922 to Howard and Ethel Lewis, he lived in Escalon for over 80 years, raising peaches and almonds on his ranches. He served as a Director on the California Peach Association and was a member of the California Almond Growers Exchange. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and walking with his dogs, as well as visiting with his friends at the local doughnut shop.

Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, June; his daughters, Jennifer Lagier (Oliver) Fellguth of Marina and Joanne Lewis (Carl) Silvagni of Carmel; sisters, Doris Gordon of Sacramento, Joanne Hawks of Modesto, June Jensen of Soldotna, Alaska, and brother Tom Lewis of Escalon.

He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Jayne; his granddaughter, Kristine Anne Green; and his brother, John Lewis.

A funeral mass was held on Friday, Jan. 9, at St. Patrick's Church and burial was at St. John's Cemetery.

Arrangements by Deegan Funeral Chapel, Escalon.
