Private services have been held in Lemoore for Steven Bowers, Sr., who died recently.
Born in Des Moines, Iowa in 1940, he moved to Prunedale to work at Firestone. When the Firestone plant closed, he went to work as a pipefitter at Ford Ord Naval Base. When Fort Ord closed, he transferred to the base in Lemoore, where he worked until retirement.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Peggy; sons Steven Bowers Jr. (Kelly) of Escalon and James Bowers of Prunedale; daughter, Sheila McGinnis of Lemoore; grandchildren Dakota and Frankie Bowers of Escalon, Katie, Lacey and Haley Bowers of Prunedale and Jessie McGinnis of Charlotte, North Carolina; brother, Frank (Rosie) Bowers of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and many other loving family members in Iowa.
He enjoyed spending time with his family. He was very active in the Moose where he reached the levels of Governor, Past Governor and he was awarded the Pilgrim Degree.
Interment will be in Iowa.
