Sibyle Lucille Pence, 89, passed away Thursday, Sept. 10 at Kaiser Hospital in Modesto after a yearlong battle with kidney failure.

Born in Blanchard, Oklahoma on Aug. 23, 1920, she was a dedicated family woman; she worked long and hard to provide a loving home with delicious meals on the table every night.

Sibyle was a young farm girl when she and her family migrated to California during the Great Depression looking for a better life, which they found. She lived in several cities in California before settling in Escalon 29 years ago.

Survivors include her children, Thomas (Barbara), Gail, and George (Debra); 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and one great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Dale; and a son, William.

Visitation will be on Thursday, Sept. 17 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Deegan Chapel in Escalon.

Her memorial service will be on Friday, Sept. 18 at 11 a.m. at Deegan Chapel in Escalon with her final resting place at Green Hills Cemetery in San Pedro, services there on Monday, Sept. 21 at 1 p.m.
