Ruth Anne Gatzman, 96, passed away in Livermore, CA, on Thursday, June 5.

She was born in Oakdale on Oct. 19, 1917 to Mathew Francis Corrigan and Mary Grace Russell-Corrigan.

She was raised and spent her life, other than the past few years, in Oakdale. She was an avid tennis player and the first female to hold the office of Student Body President at Oakdale High School.

She married Stanley Wayne Gatzman on Dec. 18, 1939 and they had four children.

Mrs. Gatzman worked many years as a bookkeeper for C.R. Fulkerson, M.D. and St Mary’s Catholic Church.

She loved both the mountains and the coast and enjoyed vacationing in both areas. She had a special place in her heart for dogs and spoiling her grandchildren.

Survivors include her brother Albert Corrigan of Oakdale; sons, Mike (Meredith) Gatzman of Livermore, and Bob (Lillian) Gatzman of Clovis; daughters Jean (Jim) Crandal of Reno, NV and Mary Trotter of Angels Camp; seven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Stanley, sisters Rita Clark and Jean Curtis, brothers George, Mathew, Paul, and Gordon Corrigan.

A Rosary will be held at the Oakdale Memorial Chapel on Friday, July 18 at 7 p.m.

A mass will be held the following day, Saturday, July 19 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oakdale at 10 a.m.
