Robert Mathias passed peacefully, at the age of 90, at home surrounded by his loving family on October 27, 2022.

He was born in San Jose, CA on July 16, 1932, the first-born child of Bill and Rachel Mathias. In 1950, the family moved to Escalon. Bob was a long-time almond and grape farmer in the Escalon area until his passing. He was a member of Blue Diamond Almond Growers, St. Patrick’s Church and Men of Saint Patrick’s (MOSP), former member of YMI, Escalon Lions Club and a Van Allen 4-H leader.

He also sat on the SSJID board for several years representing his district. He and his wife traveled extensively by RV, planes and ships. Bob enjoyed anything related to rodeo taking him to Calgary, Cody, and Las Vegas. Fishing was another interest, whether a local lake, Mexico or Alaskan trips.

He met his wife-to-be while working for Allied Grape Growers. He married Arlene Vieira in January of 1959. Together they raised four daughters: Carolyn Lanzone (deceased), Cathleen Bellino (Frank), Christine Dowlatshahi (Morteza), and Cheryl Lawrence (Bobby).

Grew up with siblings: Eleanor Ennis, Barbara Caravella, Jim Mathias (deceased) and Marlene Votta (deceased).

Grandchildren; Nicole Meier, Noelle Machado, Ashley Bellino, Robert Lanzone (deceased), Antonio Lanzone, Farrah Dowlatshahi, Arianna Dowlatshahi, Cyrus Dowlatshahi, Darius Dowlatshahi and Olivia Lawrence.

Great grandsons; Remington Meier and Wyatt Meier.
