Our hearts are broken. We lost the pillar of our family when our dad left us to spend eternity with mom. He will be missed more than any of us can express.
Dad was born and raised in Escalon. With the exception of serving in the US Navy for four years, Escalon was always home. While home on leave, he married the love of his life, Vera Mae King on December 23, 1949. Upon returning home in 1952, dad worked for Merral Clark Electric as an Electrician Apprentice, until he would become licensed. Then he began his 30-year career of serving the community as an Electrical Contractor and owner of Richard’s Electric. After selling the business in the mid 1980’s, dad continued to work until fully retiring in 1996. During this time, dad cared for mom as her health declined and she passed in June 1994. Their love and devotion to each other was unwavering to the end.
Our parents were always involved with the community they loved so much. Dad was a volunteer Fireman for many years. He played city league softball well into his 50’s, was a member of the Escalon Lions Club, and sat on the City Planning Commission.
Our father enjoyed supporting Cougar sports and cheering on his Alma Mater; a Cougar for life. He took great pride in watching three generations of our family participate in various sports.
He is survived by his children; Cindy (Laurie), Gary (Wendy), Debi (Marty), Daryl (Lisa) and Judy (Garret). Also, 34 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the newest great-great-grandson.
Our grief will continue, but we are grateful that mom and dad are reunited and dancing together again in Heaven.
Deegan Funeral Chapel is honored to serve the Altamirano family. Please join us for a graveside service on Monday, November 25, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Burwood Cemetery as we say our last goodbyes. In Lieu of flowers, please donate to the Escalon High School Sports Booster program or Community Hospice.
