Richard Hammerquist, 70, passed away peacefully in his Escalon home with family by his side. He was born in Escalon on January 7, 1949. He is survived by his brother Robert Hammerquist, Wife Rita Hammerquist, Daughter Shelly Hammerquist, Grandchildren Ty Sedivy and Alicia Sedivy.
Richie was known by most people as “Swede”. He served in the Army, went to Vietnam and was also on the Color Guard and Drill Team. He worked for many years at Johns Manville as well as being a Truck Driver and working as a Rice Farmer in Escalon.
Burial services will be held at Burwood Cemetery in Escalon. No date has been set at this time.
