Richard Lee Clifford, 89, of Oakdale died Sunday, May 19 at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Sacramento and previously lived in Escalon and Modesto before residing in Oakdale. He was an almond farmer in Escalon where he raised his family, a Real Estate Broker and part owner of Liberty Real Estate of Modesto.

Mr. Clifford’s hobby was restoring old cars, especially Packards and Model A’s. He was a lifetime member of Oakdale Model A Club, and a member of Model A Club of America, Ford Skyliner Club of Northern Calif., and Packard Club of Northern Calif.

He was a World War II veteran. He was a past member of S.I.R.S., member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of Knights Ferry Community Church. He touched the lives of many people and will be remembered for his sense of humor, courage, and love for his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Margaret; daughters, Karen (Dennis) Ulmer, Linda (Berwyn) Peterson, and Diann (Dave) Boger; sister MaryAnn Nyquist and sister-in-law Joyce Clifford; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by brothers Dr. Robert Clifford and Donald Clifford.

A celebration of life will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 1 at the Clifford’s residence. All friends are welcome.

Remembrances may be made to American Diabetes Association or the Leukemia Foundation.
