Raul Vargas Ponce, 60, a resident of Stockton and Manteca, passed away due to cancer on Thursday evening, April 17 at Golden Living Center in Stockton. He was born on April 22, 1947. Mr. Ponce was a loving father and grandpa; he loved his grandchildren very much. He always liked joking around with people. His favorite pastime was fishing but he loved watching the Chivas. He was a good person and a very hard worker who did whatever it took to provide for his family. He will truly be missed.

Survivors include his children, Martin and wife Nicole of Manteca, Teal of Oregon and Troy and wife Loraine of Redding; siblings, Martha and husband Alejandro, Elvia and husband Luis, and Salvador and wife Carmela of Mexico, and Elias and wife Luz Maria, Jesus and wife Guillermina, and Silvestre and wife Martha of Orange; his grandchildren, Martin Jr. and Marcus of Manteca, CW and Aubrey of Redding, and Eva, Daina, Anna and Raina of Oregon; and two great grandchildren. His he is also survived by his girlfriend Maria Rangel of Stockton. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 24, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Deegan Funeral Chapel 1441 San Joaquin St. in Escalon. Rosary-Mass will be on Friday, April 25 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church 19399 East Highway 120 in Escalon with burial following at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
