PETRONELLA “NELLIE” BARTELINK

Petronella “Nellie” Bartelink peacefully passed away October 14, 2022 at the age of 88 at her home, surrounded by her loved ones after a battle with brain cancer. Nellie was born February 24, 1934 in Holland to parents, Gerardus and Petronella De Jongh.

Nellie married Johan “John” Bartelink on October 18, 1958 and the couple shared 61 wonderful years together. She was actively involved at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and Y.L.I. (Young Ladies Institute). She enjoyed participating in the El Portal Bowling League and traveling with her husband. The couple took many trips back to Holland to visit family. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends, and she was well known for her knitted “sloffies” (slippers). She also loved frequenting her great-grandchildren’s many sporting events. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Nellie is preceded in passing by her beloved husband of 61 years, John Bartelink, and her sister, Tinni. She is survived by her children, Jerry Bartelink of Escalon, Henry (Jennifer) Bartelink of Escalon, and Patricia (Mark) Longpre of Cool, California; grandchildren, Nate (Mandy) of Escalon, Travis (Katie) of Escalon, Ryan (Belle) of Escalon, and six great-grandchildren; along with her brothers, Kees and John of The Netherlands.

Deegan Funeral Chapel is honored to serve the Bartelink family. A viewing will be held at Deegan Funeral Chapel, Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at 4 p.m. with a rosary vigil at 6 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. followed by Committal at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery. Memorial donations in Nellie’s honor can be made to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church or to Community Hospice.
