Pearl Edith (Phillips) Stewart, 86, of Escalon died Tuesday, April 6 at Manteca Care and Rehab.

Born in Albany, Oregon in 1918, Mrs. Stewart had lived in Escalon for 47 years.

She worked for Hershey's Chocolate company for seven years, and was the former owner of Pearl's Beauty Salon in Escalon. She also owned Western Auto in Escalon and Sutter Creek.

She was a member of the Royal Neighbor Lodge 9 Colorado, AARP and the National Council of Senior Citizens.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law Denny V. and Gail Stewart of Escalon; grandchildren Michael and Kenneth; great-grandchild Justin; and sibling, Lyle Phillips, of Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Denzil B. Stewart, in 1982.

Private services were held at Burwood Cemetery, East River Road in Escalon.

Deegan Funeral Chapel, Escalon, was in charge of arrangements.
