Patricia "Patty" Ann Blount, 55, died in her sleep on Friday, May 1.

She was born to Allen and Joyce (Harper) Trawick in Modesto. She lived her entire life in Riverbank. She was part of the first graduating class at Riverbank High School where she was a cheerleader. After high school she attended a vocational school to become a chiropractic assistant.

She was wed to Gary Blount on March 15, 1975. They had four sons. Her main focus was her family for whom she would do anything. She kept her sons and husband close to one another and to her.

With the addition of three grandchildren came a new mission in her life, which was to do anything and everything for her grandchildren. "Mimi" loved spending time with all of her grandchildren and went out of her way to make sure that they were happy and well cared for.

Mrs. Blount helped her husband run the family construction business along with the boys. The family grew close while spending many summers working together to ensure the family business was successful. She was one of the main reasons that the business has survived for so long. In addition to working in the family business, she spent the past three years working for H&R Block as a tax preparer.

Throughout her life, she managed to always find time to be involved in the community. As her children were growing she helped out with youth sports, having an impact on the lives of many of the kids she encountered. She loved to help children and doing all she could to help them.

Her desire to improve the lives of children led her to serve on the Riverbank School District Board. After being elected in 1993, she quickly made the school district a priority, coming second only to her family. Serving on the school board and helping children receive the best possible education was her real passion. She served on the school board for 15-and-a-half years and was planning to run for another term. During her school board tenure, she was successful in helping to unify all of the Riverbank schools by bringing Riverbank High School into the school district and thus creating Riverbank Unified School District. Her final two goals were accomplished earlier this year with the completion of the new gymnasium at the high school and the start of construction on Mesa Avenue elementary school.

For those who had the privilege, they know what a caring and loving person she was. She always put others before herself and never complained about the many sacrifices she made. She had an impact on her community and on the lives of the many people she touched. The world will seem a little emptier for those who were fortunate enough to know this beautiful and amazing woman.

She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Gary; sons, Garett (Breanne), Cohen, Josh and Jon, all of Riverbank; parents, Joyce and Allen Trawick of Riverbank; sisters, Linda Cook of Farmington and Brenda Highfill of Oakdale; brother, Allen Trawick Jr. of Riverbank; her grandchildren "little angels," Taylor, Riley and Hannah; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13 at the Assembly of God Church, 3126 Stanislaus St., Riverbank. Graveside services will be held following the funeral at Lakewood Memorial Park.
