Otis passed away at home with his family on May 12th 2019 at the age of 85.  Born, the second of five children on July 22nd 1933 in Hobbs, New Mexico.  He married his wife Nola in 1954 at the Methodist Church in Escalon.  Otis served four years in the United States Airforce where he trained to become a draftsman.  After his military service Otis was employed by Stanislaus County for forty years.  In 1969 Otis moved his family to Escalon to become a part-time Almond farmer.  Otis enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in sports and continued to be an avid Cougar fan.  Otis and his wife Nola also enjoyed traveling the US and abroad.  During his retirement Otis became a dedicated gardener and enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labor with family and friends.  His family will treasure a lifetime of memories of him, a kind, intelligent and generous man.  Otis is survived by his wife of 65 years Nola.  Three daughters Susan (Rick) Butler, Ruenell (Randy) Northcutt and Karen Baggett.  Five grandchildren Eric Butler, Rylan (Jamie) Butler, Justin (Amy) Northcutt, Erin (Logan) Rice and Brian Butler.  Eight great grandchildren who loved to call him Papa O. A graveside memorial service will be held May 20th at 11 a.m. at Burwood Cemetery  immediately following a reception at the Escalon United Methodist Church.  Donations can be made in Otis’s memory to Escalon Community Ambulance or Community Hospice.
