Orval Tobeck

Orval John Tobeck, 90, passed away on Wednesday, September 30 at the Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson.

Born on March 23, 1919, he played professional baseball for the Phillies for a few years until he enlisted with the Coast Guard in 1942 as a fireman. He was a barber in the Lincoln Center in Stockton for many years as well as direct selling of health products for 45 plus years. He moved to Escalon 13 years ago and became a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Modesto.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Lucille H. Tobeck; his son Roger Wayne Tobeck and his wife Janice of Livermore; his sister Marcy Wilson of Rocklin; daughter-in-law Pamela Tobeck of Twain Harte; grandchildren Kristina Switzer (Keith) of Livermore, David Tobeck (Chris) of Livermore, and Todd Tobeck of Menlo Park; and his five great grandchildren Kevin, Kyle, Makayla, Seth and Ashleigh.

He was preceded in death by his son Orval Byron Tobeck.

Services will be held at a later date.
