Norman Suniga

Norman V. Suniga, 73, passed away suddenly on Jan. 27, 2008 at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto from heart failure.

Born on Oct. 27, 1934 in Bakersfield, CA, he was a hard working man having retired after 40 years as a slaughter house meat butcher.

He served in the armed forces during the Korean War.

He enjoyed camping and fishing and his beer. He was a devoted parishioner of St. Patrick's Catholic Church of Ripon.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Carmen Suniga; four sons, Jim and Pam Suniga, Ben and Sophia Suniga of Escalon of Escalon, Tim and Elizabeth Suniga of Modesto and Peter and Rosanna Suniga of Oakdale; grandchildren, Jason Suniga and Jennifer Suniga of Modesto, Anthony Suniga of Escalon and Vincent Suniga of Oakdale; two brothers, Victor and Mary Suniga of Victorville, Richard and Cruz Suniga of Springville, and sister Veronica and VJ Rodriguez of Bakersfield, CA; as well as two aunts, numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by beloved grandson Benjamin Ray Suniga Jr.

Mr. Suniga was the son of the late Jennie and Tony Suniga.

He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and neighbors.

Visitation was Sunday, Feb. 3 at Deegan Chapel in Escalon with his Rosary following at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Escalon. Mass was on Monday, Feb. 4 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church and burial followed at St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Escalon.
