Michael E. Morris, 61, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, Feb. 23.

He was born on Dec. 4, 1949 in Sonora and attended school in Columbia and Sonora. As a teenager he worked local cattle ranches, pack stations and movie sets, including driving the stagecoach for the TV series, "Tales of Wells Fargo."

He was a professional truck driver for the past 43 years and was a long time Escalon resident. His best times were spent with his family. He was known for his strength, kindness and determination. He loved reading Louis L'Amour westerns, watching John Wayne movies, PBR and listening to the SF Giants on his XM radio.

Mr. Morris enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing cards. He spent his spare time raising and showing award winning Satin rabbits. He was president of Big Valley Rabbit Assoc. and responsible for co-coordinating the largest rabbit shows on the West Coast.

Survivors include his loving wife of 31 years, Dolores, and their three children, Shannon Morris of Modesto, Mike (Angela) Morris of Albany, Oregon, and Joey Morris of Oakdale; and his grandchildren, Michael Jr., Samantha, Erin, and Christina, all of Oregon and Colby Lynn and Colton Lane of Oakdale.

He was a loving husband, devoted dad and adoring grandpa.

Celebration of Life will be on Thursday, March 3 at 11 a.m. at Deegan Funeral Chapel, corner of Highway 120 and San Joaquin Street in Escalon.

There will be a reception following the service at the Escalon Livestock Market.
