Michael Armstrong, of Escalon, CA, passed away on February 14, 2017. He was born on November 20, 1943 in Bowdle, South Dakota. Mike studied Fire Science at El Camino College in Torrance, CA. Mike married his wife Liz Furmanski in Walnut Creek, CA in 1974, and together they raised seven children. After leaving the Pleasanton Fire Department he worked as a mail carrier for the USPS until his retirement.
He loved trips to Mt. Diablo, playing sports, couldn’t resist sharing a corny joke, and was gifted at painting water colors. His grandchildren meant everything to him and he liked to include them in all of his activities. Mike was preceded in death by his son Brian and is survived by his wife Liz, daughters Michelle Armstrong-Alameda and Vanessa Armstrong-Herrero, and sons Eric, Scott, David and Denton. Mike is also survived by five granddaughters, five grandsons and four great-grandchildren. Mike’s kindness, humility and sense of humor will be missed by many. A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 4940 Claus Road in Modesto on Saturday, March 11 at 4 p.m.
