Marli Goncalves Asher, 72, died on Thursday, April 11.

She was born on March 24, 1941 in Brazil to Raul and Bergenia Goncalves.

Mrs. Asher survived surreal obstacles with a huge smile on her face. Her greatest achievements in life were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. Although her body is here, her heart will forever remain in Brazil.

Survivors include her daughter, Maria Pires of Escalon and son-in-law Joe, son-in-law Richard Govia; grandsons Robert Govia, Richard Govia, Randy Govia (Jessica), Anthony Pires (Jamie) of Ripon, Jason Pires (Audra) of Hughson, one great grandson and four great granddaughters, Mallory and Emily Govia, Anden Mieli and Raeli Govia.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard T. Asher, and daughter Sonia Govia.

A visitation rosary was held Tuesday, April 16 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

Mass will be Wednesday, April 17 at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick’s. A private burial will follow at a later date.
