Maria Noemia Sousa Silva, 64, of Escalon passed away Sunday, April 6.

She was born in Terceira, Azores on Jan. 4, 1950.

Her greatest loves were her children, grandchildren, her animals, the garden that she shared with her husband and visiting with family and friends in the Azores. She had the kindest most selfless heart and she always put others before herself.

Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Jose Brasil Silva; her children, Luis (Katie) Silva, Joe (Lori) Silva, Moises (Kaila) Silva, Rosemary (Francisco) Silva Ceja, Sylvia (Raul) Gois, Suzi Silva and Mary Silva, all of Escalon; 15 grandchildren; her mother, Maria Celeste Sousa; and siblings, Maria Sousa and Carlos Sousa, both of Escalon, Guvelina Sousa and Gilberto Sousa, both of Terceira, Azores.
