Margaret “Peggy” Elizabeth Brackett, 80, of Girard,, Kansas, died Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at her residence in Girard.
Margaret was born March 28, 1934 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a daughter of David H. and Edna (Hendrickson) Diehl.
She attended grade school and graduated from high school in Richmand, California, and received her master’s degree from Pittsburg State University.
Margaret married Robert G. Seaman on April 15, 1957 in Monterey, California. He preceded her in death in May of 2005. She married Bobby G. Brackett in the summer of 1968 and made their home in Escalon, California. He preceded her in death in October of 1984.
She worked as a social worker at Stanislaus Social Services in Stanislaus, California before working as a behavior specialist in the Lakin, Kansas School District and as a para in the Girard Schools. She retired from Crawford County Mental Health in Pittsburg, Kansas.
Margaret was a member of the First Baptist Church in Girard, the National Geographics Society, a Life Extender Coach, and the Girard Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and watching all sports, especially tennis and basketball.
Survivors include her sons, Michael Brackett and his wife Sabina of Independence, Kansas, Jack Brackett and his wife Sharon of Stockton, California, Jim Brackett of Stockton, Jesse Brackett of Madison, Wisconsin, and L. J. Brackett of Parsons, Kansas; a daughter, Bobbie Jean Stewart and her husband Dale of Wichita Falls, Texas; Eleven grandchildren, including four lovely girls who provided special comfort for their Grandma Peggy, Katrina, Katy, Brandi, and Shelby; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; a brother, Lloyd Diehl of Clayton, California.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jo Ann Allen, two grandchildren, a sister, Mary Effie Monsen-Diehl; brothers David, Frank, and Bill Diehl.
Memorial services will be at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 5, 2014 in the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard with Pastor Dallas Peterson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m., until service time. Burial will be in the Girard Cemetery.
