Liena Verburg Postma, 72, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 20 in Stephenville, Texas.

She was born on May 4, 1935 in Alphen A/O Rhine Holland.

Liena came to America from Holland with her family in October 1951, and helped on the family dairy in Southern California. While in Southern California she entered the hand milking contest at the Los Angeles County Fair and won that contest, she was 19 at the time. Moving north to Escalon she became the Ranch Manager for the Lawrence family dairy. She went into the dairy business herself in Stephenville Texas; Liena sold her business and went to work for Wal Mart in Stephenville where she was voted employee of the month numerous times. She loved creating things with wood, loved the outdoors, gardening, and her grandson Matt made her life brighter.

Survivors include her son, Chris Postma and her grandson Matt Postma, both of Stephenville Texas; her sisters, Rita Verburg of Grants Pass, Oregon, Cora Plants of Bakersfield, Ann Birmingham of Boise, Idaho, and Mari Holdner of Eureka; brothers, Jacob Verburg of Modesto, Hank Verburg of Bliss, Idaho, Case Verburg of Acampo; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leendert and Antje Verburg and two brothers, Bill Verburg and Nick Verburg.

Graveside service was Tuesday, Nov. 27 at Burwood Cemetery, 28320 East River Road, Escalon.
