Leon Olen Benge peacefully passed away at the age of 90 on May 29, 2021 in Modesto, California. Leon was born January 6, 1931 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma to parents, Richard and Mae Belle Benge. In 1946, Leon’s family moved to Escalon, California, where he attended Escalon High School. In 1952, Leon enlisted with the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was stationed in England, Nebraska and Riverside, CA. After serving three years, Leon was Honorably Discharged and returned home. He was a resident of Escalon for over 50 years. Leon was a very talented Craftsman, he enjoyed building unique log cabin birdhouses for his friends and family. Leon was the most kind, honest, loving and gentle man, husband and father. He was a faithful man who put his love and trust in God to guide him and his family. Leon was truly loved by all his grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and dear friends. He will be missed, but knowing he is with our Lord and Savior brings us much comfort.
Leon is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Joyce; his children, Charlotte Burris (Ed) of Milton-Freewater, Oregon, Stanley Green (Debbie) of Oakdale; former son-in-law, Erwin Bucher of Ripon; grandchildren, Rudy Bucher (Stacey), Carrie Bucher, Stephanie Brown (Andrew), Melissa Green; great-grandchildren, Alice Bucher, Owen Bucher, Kadence Brown, Addison Brown, Kooper Brown, Jacob Green-O’Neill, James O’Neill, Alyssa Green-Davis; siblings, M.D. Benge and Brenda Benge Johnson. Preceding him in death; his parents, Richard and Mae Belle; his infant son, Rudy Benge, great grandson; Jacob Green, siblings; E.J. Benge, Pauline Benge, Wanda Benge and June Benge.
