Lena Giannini, 80, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008 in Modesto.

She was born in San Jose on Jan. 5, 1927 but spent most of her childhood in Escalon. While on a vacation in Italy in 1946, she met the love of her life, Marino Giannini. Marino and Lena were married in Tuscany in a double ceremony with her sister, Edith, and brother-in-law, Renato.

Mrs. Giannini's greatest joy was spending time with her extended family. Favorite activities included playing cards, trips to the beach or mountains, or just enjoying a family barbecue. She will always be remembered as a loving wife and mother. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years Marino Giannini of Modesto; her children Gina and Bill McKinney of Modesto, Mike and Lisa Giannini of Hickman, Deanna and Jim Margin of San Ramon and Mark and Mary Kay Giannini of Modesto; 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild; and her sister, Edith Santini of Modesto.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Anna Martini, Emil Santini, Vincent Santini and Dora Martinelli.

Visitation was Monday, Jan. 7 at Deegan Funeral Chapel in Escalon with Rosary-Mass on Tuesday, Jan. 8 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Escalon with burial following at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
