Lawrence "Bazel" Rice, 83, of Oakdale died Monday, Aug. 2 at his sister's home.
A native of Texas, he resided in Oakdale 65 years. He worked in construction for most of his life and also worked at the Oakdale Creamery, Oakdale Irrigation District and the Escalon Cannery. He was a WWII Navy veteran. He belonged to Labor Union Local #1130, Modesto.
He is survived by sisters, Lila Escobar and Alice Fields, both of Oakdale, and one brother, Byrum Rice of Oakdale.
A graveside service was held Friday, Aug. 6 at the Oakdale Citizens Cemetery. There was no visitation.
Oakdale Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
