Lawrence E. 'Larry' Murray, 74, passed away from lung cancer on Thursday, Oct. 13 at his home in Escalon.
Born on Feb. 17, 1937, he had been a resident of Escalon for the past 35 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving from June 17, 1955 to Feb. 29, 1976 and also was a San Joaquin County employee for the Dept. of Public Works from 1983 to 1999.
Survivors include his sisters, Anna Riesing of W. Covina, Judith Griffith of Newark and Catherine Galloway of Elk Grove. He is also survived by his six nieces and six nephews; and many great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Anna Murray; and his siblings, Rev. Richard D. Murray, James V. Murray Jr., John A. Murray and Susan A. Hayes.
Visitation will be on Friday, Oct. 21 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Deegan Funeral Chapel in Escalon. The family requests a private burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward.
