LaDrew A. Marconette, 85, died Thursday, Sept. 11 at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.

Born on April 30, 1923 in Salida, he was a resident of Modesto for 65 years.

He retired from Sharpe Army Depot in 1989.

He enjoyed horses, bowling and carpentry and was a rock hound. He belonged to the Turlock Gem & Mineral Club, Modesto Horse Club and was a charter member of the Oakdale Saddle Club.

Survivors include his children, Denis Marconette of San Diego and Valerie and her husband Ralph Dawson of Idaho; sister, Gladys Morgan of Tennessee; and grandchildren, Jaimie Marconette of Tennessee, Kathryn and her husband Derek Gardner of Wisconsin, Elliot Dawson of Texas, Emilee Dawson of La Mirada, California and Beth Dawson of Idaho.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Anne, in 2005.

Memorial graveside service will be on Saturday, Sept. 20 at 9 a.m. at Burwood Cemetery, 28320 East River Road, Escalon.

Memorial donations may be sent to Kidney Disease Research.
