John Machado Vieira Jr., 92, passed away at home in Escalon on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010.

He was born on Aug. 5, 1917 in Terceira, Azores.

Mr. Vieira was a dairyman for over 50 years and was a member of the Farm Bureau and the Western United Dairyman Association. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Escalon, and had been involved in L.A.S. and S.E.S. He enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include his children, Natalie Vieira of Escalon, and Daniel and Marie Vieira of Escalon; his two granddaughters, Alisa and Marisa Vieira, both of Escalon; and his brother Jose Vieira of Canada.

He was preceded in death by his wife Pauline, who passed away in 1992; his parents John and Esther; and his sister, Mary Esther Garcia.

He will be remembered as a loving father & grandfather.

Visitation will be on Monday, Jan. 18 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Deegan Funeral Chapel in Escalon.

Rosary/Mass will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 19 at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Escalon. Burial will follow at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
