John Gregory Largent (Greg) entered into rest on September 11, 2022, after a brief illness.

Greg was born in Escalon, California, on December 9, 1962 to parents John R. Largent and Joan (Toni) Largent.

Greg graduated from Escalon High in 1981, where he excelled in football, basketball, and baseball. Greg attended Stanislaus State University, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree and Teaching Credential in 1986.

On New Year’s Eve 1984, Greg met the love of his life, Cindy Kilroy. Greg and Cindy married on October 10, 1987. This October would have been their 35th Anniversary.

Greg is survived by his father, John Largent, wife Cindy Largent, son Steven (Shannon), son Nicholas, and brother Mark (Jennifer).

Greg was “Nono” and a hero to four grandsons, Giancarlo (6), Enzo (5), Stefano (3), and Kade (2). Greg was preceded in death by his mother, Toni Largent.

Greg was a lifelong resident of Escalon and a pillar of the community. Greg taught at El Portal Middle School for 30 plus years. He was a teacher, mentor and coach to 1000’s of Escalon students. Coach Largent was proud of all the teams that he coached over the years. During his tenure as head baseball coach, his teams won 10 TVL Championships, three SAC-Joaquin Section titles, and two CA State Championships.

Coach Largent fought valiantly to the end, and all of his former players should be as proud of him as we are.

Deegan Funeral Chapel is honored to serve the Largent family. A vigil service is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 22 at 6 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church followed by a funeral mass on Friday, Sept. 23 at 10:30 a.m., also at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Ripon.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to EHS Sports Boosters/EHS Baseball.
