Jerry T. Thornhill, 80, of Escalon passed away on Thursday, April 3 at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.

He was born on Aug. 25, 1927 in Davidson, Oklahoma to Jesse and Ira Thornhill. He was a family man who did everything for them. He loved to cook and exchange recipes and fishing was also one of his passions. He loved to tell stories and was a very compassionate man. Although he was lovingly called "The Old Toad," he was thankful for everything and all that he had, and grateful to everyone who cared about him. He was very much loved by all who really knew him.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Madeline (Babe); their children Jerald of Riverbank, James of Newton Falls, Ohio, Jeanett of Chowchilla, John of North Royalton, Ohio, Julie of Rio Linda and Jackie of Placerville; 13 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and his brother, Mike Thornhill of Rio Linda.

Services were on Tuesday, April 8 at St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Escalon.
