Jeannette Arcuri Olsen passed away in her sleep on Tuesday, July 30, a few days after her 104th birthday at the Golden Empire Convalescent Hospital in Grass Valley.

She and her twin brother Henry were born in San Francisco on July 26, 1909 to Michael Arcuri and Hattie Hoyt Arcuri. She attended school in San Francisco and did office work and was a telephone operator after finishing her education. She married Otto W. Olsen in Reno in 1940, and they resided in San Mateo for many years. They enjoyed visiting Otto’s family in Escalon on their weekends. They moved to Sierra City after Otto retired.

Jeannette was a member of the Eastern Star, enjoyed playing Bridge, and attended church in Sierraville where she provided beautiful flowers for the sanctuary from her garden. She was also an excellent cook.

Survivors include her sister-in-law Dorothy Beckwith of Vale, Oregon; and her four nieces, Marilyn De Ruosi of Escalon, Carlene Hawkins of Hornbrook, Bonnie Fovinci of Stockton, and Robin Frazier of Vale, Oregon.

She was preceded in death by her husband Otto; her brothers Theo and Henry, and her sister Gladys.

A memorial will be held for family members in Vale, Oregon, at a later date. Her final resting place is in Sierra City.
