Janna (Dotinga) Verhoeven, 57, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008 at the home of her daughter Jodi Lynn (Verhoeven) St. John.

She had several diagnoses of breast cancer over more than 20 years, which she fought valiantly, but finally lost the battle, surrounded at her bedside by her father and all of her brothers and sisters.

She was born in Sybrandaburen, Friesland, the Netherlands on Feb. 21, 1951. She immigrated to California with her parents, Joe and Nancy Dotinga, at the age of nine months.

Her great love of life and affection and genuine care for all around her and her outgoing nature gave her many good friends and the love and appreciation of many nephews and nieces.

She is survived by her daughter Jodi Lynn (Mark Antonio) St. John and her dearly beloved grandson Tydus John; her father Joe Dotinga; three sisters, Barbara (Larry) Schwisow, Joanne (Brent) Ayotte, and Harriet (David) Schaapman; and four brothers, William (Cherie) Dotinga, Sidney (Cynthia) Dotinga, Henry (Diana) Dotinga, and Thomas (Sandra) Dotinga; her ex-husband of 25 years of marriage, Wes Verhoeven, and their adopted daughter Ezzy (Jeremy) Atwell.

She was preceded in death by her mother Nancy Dotinga nine months ago.

Graveside service was held at Burwood Cemetery in Escalon on Monday, Sept. 22. Church memorial service was at Escalon Christian Reformed Church, also on Monday, Sept. 22.
