Dr. Janet MacLean, 76, of Bardstown, KY, died at her home on Dec. 20, 2008 after a long battle with cancer.

Dr. MacLean taught in local schools and resided in Escalon for 13 years, 1968-1981. She taught Special Education at El Portal Middle School for many years, using her talent as a gifted musician to complement her curriculum.

Prior to leaving Escalon she was Principal at Dent Elementary School. In Bardstown she continued teaching special education and music as well as opening and operating her own school, Creative Education Center.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Vincent Church, Bardstown, on Dec. 23.

Survivors include her sister, Gail MacLean of Norwalk, Connecticut and her longtime friend, Sister Mary Driscoll of Bardstown.
