James Frank New, Jr, 78 of Escalon, CA, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on January 13, 2022.
He was the cherished son of the late James Frank New, Sr. and Wanda New (Mcguire).
Born in Dunn, NC, he enjoyed playing many sports before turning 18 and moving across the country to experience many adventures before settling down in Lodi, CA, to raise a family of his own. He was a devoted team leader for the General Services Administration for 30 years as a maintenance supervisor before going to work for eight years for the carpenters’ union, which he loved. Jim was truly a “fix anything kind of guy,” a mechanic at heart. If there were someone who needed help, Jim never hesitated to lend a hand, throw on his tool belt, or get under the hood. Jim was a man who could never say “No.” He was also a traveler, an avid golfer and was a prominent member of the Bogeys Club of Escalon. A hunter, and a fisherman who also enjoyed the beach and mountain air whenever possible.
He was an amazing husband – and the love of his life, wife Betty M. New – survives him in death. He is survived by sister, Theresa Apfel of Texas, children Kevin New (Lisa), Keith New (Cyndi), Marlene Werner (Ray), Donald Rader (Tim); also, grandchildren, Janine Casey, Brittney New, Brenden New, and Kyle Hunter as well as two great granddaughters, Lola and Lily Quaccia and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will follow at a later date.
Donations can be made in his name to: Community Hospice of Modesto, 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto, CA 95356.
